Before a melody is written, a musician masters their instrument; before a moment is captured, the photographer knows their camera like an old friend. And so, the sculptor must know their craft. In these sessions, students are invited to polish their skills and technique rather than create a finished piece.
Working with a model the students spend 4 hours focusing on any part of the body and can work on capturing expression and movement. Students can also concentrate on texture, movement and weight. He also aims to impress upon students an understanding of proportion – reducing the need to stop and measure. Javier’s sessions are unique in Wellington. He is the only one promoting this kind of practice. And now you can enjoy it in the centrally located, historic and beautiful INVERLOCHY House in Te Aro Valley.
