One of the things I always repeat in my classes is that you need to have fun!

Otherwise, you can get crazy with all the information and hours of practice you need to get better at it, which can be tedious sometimes.

I am very focused on the functionality of the body, anatomy, and breaking down the volumes to make it easier to grasp. This is good to make a more powerful work, is the step forward from copying what is in front of you. At the same time comes the artistic approach, that differs from artist to artist in the way the person thinks and sees the surrounding world.

Every time I teach, I find the Academic teaching process that I do in my classes a bit steady, I find difficult to have flexibility in my sculptures. I am more focus on lecturing, simplifying the concepts to the minimum and try to work with the students so they can understand everything they see.

In the learning process it´s good if you copy from natural at the beginning, and then understand it and finally interpret what you see.

But the first step for any artist is to learn the tools you need, so you can use it the way you want. For me, the classes allow me to go over the concepts again and again which helps a lot to fix the knowledge. But I miss having fun!

If you join the sessions, make the most of them , learn and practice as much as you can, that´s what I do. Feel free to make the same sculpture I am doing, or you can do your own, or simply make the most of the model to study anatomy or any other idea that comes to your head, it´s up to you! I am organizing this so I can continue with my studies and at the same time, you can do the same and practice!

So Javier is applying this rule to himself and he is organizing these sculpture sessions to make a new sculpture every time he gives a class. This is an opportunity for anyone who wants to join the sessions and work next to him.

The session will be held for 3 consecutive days from 9 am to 5 pm, the same format of the classes. You can make the most of it all the time or  just pop by when suits you, this is not a class so you are free to find your time.  It´s up to you.  But remember, the more you do the more you learn.

To attend please contact the organizer of the workshop at the bottom of the homepage.
