A Plasticine Series is a range of oil-based clay products designed for sculptors of all levels. It remains malleable indefinitely, never dries out, and is perfect for creating sculptures of any size. While developed for professional use, it is equally suitable for passionate hobbyists and moldmakers.
Formulated in Javier’s studio after years of experimentation, this plasticine meets the specific demands of our workshops and projects, such as our Studio Sessions—5-hour quick sketch sculpting exercises. Its consistency is comparable to high-end products like Chavant’s “Le Beau Touché” and NSP: smooth, slightly greasy to the touch, white in color, with low stickiness— It melts to liquid form and is Non Sulphur.
This clay was born out of a necessity: in New Zealand and Australia, most professional-grade plasticine is imported, making it costly and hard to access. Our solution is a locally produced, high-quality, and cost-effective alternative that competes with the best on the market—without compromising performance.
Custom Orders Available
If you’re a professional needing larger quantities (40 blocks or more), we offer the option to custom-make your order, adjusting the consistency or color to your preferences. Please get in touch with the studio.
This plasticine has been carefully formulated in Javier’s studio to meet the specific needs of our Studio Sessions, where we create quick sketches within a 5-hour timeframe. The formula closely resembles Chavant’s “Le Beau Touché,” offering a similar feel and performance.
It is easy to work with, slightly greasy to the touch, white in color, and has reduced stickiness—making it ideal for medium- to large-format sculptures.
This is a non-sulphur clay that melts to a liquid state, allowing it to be poured into molds when needed. It’s also an excellent material for moldmakers, ideal for building walls, keys, or separation barriers during mold construction.
This plasticine has been formulated in Javier’s studio to addapt the need required for hte Studio sessions where we do quick scketches in 5 hours time. This formula feels very close if not almost alike the “Le belle touche from Chavant”. This clay in a non sulphur product, melts to liquid form which makes it easy to pour into molds if required and it is great for molmakers to build walls or separations.
Al AdamsonJavier is a true artist. A master of his craft, very down to earth, approachable and with a wonderful eye for creating beautiful art works. His figure and head workshops will take you on a journey from novice to competent, from competent to skilled, all the way to being an expert should you have the good fortune to take a series of his classes. It is refreshing to see someone with so much talent, with the patience and enthusiasm to teach students at all levels. I hope you enjoy the classes as much as I did. Frankly I feel my vocabulary isn’t sufficient, I don’t have the superlatives to adequately describe how excellent I felt with my sculptures at the end and how much knowledges I have gained! Thanks again Javier, I hope to take one of your classes again face to face shortly, but in the meantime I will settle for the online versions. And to you the reader (if you’ve got this far bravo!), all the best and good luck on your artistic journey my fellow artists!Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Very well laid out instructions and abundance of information from reference pictures of the model , STL files for reference 3d models of simplified anatomy etc. Then tailored feedback from Javier on where you can improve the piece and how to approach the sculpture based on your skill level. David ChiversJavier has put together a very comprehensive online Figure Sculpting Course which is hard to fault. There is a wealth of material and instruction, both written and visual (including video) plus information on books, extra study options and his personal artistic inspiration. There are regular videos catch-ups and also access to the Studio webpage and therefore the community of other students and their work. Javier teaches with generosity, kindness, enthusiasm and fun; he is encouraging and supportive and gives comprehensive, accurate feedback. He is gentle and laid back in style but with obvious passion, commitment and dedication to his work and to his students. Very highly recommended.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Adrian FrenckenJavier's classes are fantastic. He is a master of his craft and is able to break down complex ideas and anatomy so its structured, easy to follow, learn and apply. I've attended both a portrait sculpting class in person (can't beat in person) and his simplified figure course online. You get live online lessons with Javier and feedback where he helps you to improve and become a better sculptor and artist.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Jake FairweatherJavier’s workshops are essential if you want to improve at figurative sculpture. Incredibly in-depth knowledge presented in a simple and clear manner. The courses meet you at whatever level you are at. It’s very fun to have a week or so to work from life, with your hands, sharpening your observational art skills. I don’t know of any other tuition like this available in this part of the world.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Brett KenoI attended Javier's latest 2 day workshop creating the clay head and face. You learn so much about the anatomy of the face from a man that has clearly spent a lot of time studying it. There is a lot to take in and he has a structured process to get you through it.. but I loved when you asked him questions and he responds with valuable, in-depth insights and tips that are above and beyond the lesson. Could have spent days learning more, very worthwhile. Ngā mihi BrettTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. P J.I recently completed a two day head study, portrait course over a weekend directed by Javair. The directions were clear, concise giving perspectives of the structure of the head. At the beginning of the first day a detailed out was given to each student showing each step of how to build what is underneath the skin hidden from view, highlighting the skull, muscle groups to how to shape the eye's, nose, ears, lips, neck etc. This detailing in the hand out is then demonstrated step by step explanations given as to how each Part relates to the next so we see the structure as a whole, by the second day the details are all in the correct position, hence a lot less struggle an more focused on a complete finish. I have already enrolled in several more training classes run by Javair. Javier has such skills to offer incite. He has a level of training for the beginner to advance which is catered for during each session. Many thanks.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Ngaroma RileyThe sculpture workshop I did with Javier was an intensive course and a sharp learning curve. I was completely exhausted by the end of it but it's one of the most valuable learning experiences I've ever had. If you are interested in learning about the human figure, I highly recommend it. It was worth every penny.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Katie GattI just completed a 2-day sculpting workshop with Javier. It was incredible! I came in with zero experience and as a result of his clear, scaffolded teaching I walked away with a sculpture of a human figure that I’m really proud of. More than that, I had so much fun, learned so much and grew in confidence. I’ll be back for more!Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
